Short and Twain are just two of the six cast additions to the Beauty and the Beast anniversary special. So, what roles are they going to play?
Six New Beauty and the Beast Cast Additions
According to TVLine, Short will be playing the role of the French candlestick Lumière, while Twain will take over the late Angela Lansbury’s iconic role as the beloved teapot Mrs. Potts. The other four cast additions are David Alan Grier as the clock Cogsworth; Rizwan Manji as Gaston’s sidekick LeFou; Jon Jon Briones as Belle’s father Maurice; and the newcomer Leo Abelo Perry as Mrs. Potts’ son Chip. They will also be joined by the Tony nominee Joshua Henry as Tony nominee Joshua Henry and another Hollywood icon Rita Moreno as the narrator.
The Beauty and the Beast Production
The Beauty and the Beast special will feature a combination of live-action musical performances and scenes from the animated movie. It will be similar to ABC’s special tribute to Little Mermaid in November 2019. Though it lost to Silence of the Lambs, it bagged an award for Best Original Song, “Beauty and the Beast.” The special will be out on December 15 on ABC and will be streamlined on Disney + beginning on December 16.
