Speaking recently with The Hollywood Reporter, Batgirl directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah revealed that, despite the studio’s cancellation of their Batgirl movie, they are still interested to work with DC and, this time around, they are eyeing to helm a Batman Beyond movie. “You know, maybe in the future… when Batman is not being made by Matt Reeves. Batman Beyond is really super cool. And I just saw that and thought that’s really badass,” El Arbi said. “So who knows? Maybe in the future one day if they ask us to do that, we wouldn’t say no. But you can dream, right?”
As far as we know, DC Studios has no plans at the moment to make a live-action Batman Beyond movie. However, it sounds like they already have directors in-line to take over the project if they ever decide to make it happen. For now, a safe assumption is that they won’t be making it anytime soon. The most interesting part here is that it looks like El Arbi and Fallah are still interested to work on a DC project despite the possible tensions that they have with the studio as a result of Batgirl’s cancellation. It’s still great to hear that the idea has supporters from directors who can make an awesome film out of it. For now, let’s just wait and see whether they can actually happen in the future of the DCU. A lot of fans will certainly be happy if it does. In addition, it could also revitalize the original animated series into the bigger pop culture bubble. Also Read: Batgirl Directors Open Up About the Movie’s ‘Traumatic’ Cancellation
