Speaking recently with Entertainment Weekly, Peyton Reed revealed that the third film will have the scale of an Avengers movie as he wanted to derive from the first two’s “palette cleanser” tone and make this a bigger film than what we’ve seen before. “People felt like, Oh, these are fun little palate cleansers after a gigantic Avengers movie,” he said. “For this third one, I said, ‘I don’t want to be the palate cleanser anymore. I want to be the big Avengers movie.’”
When asked if he went to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige’s office and kicked his door to state his demand for the third film, Reed jokingly answered, “I did. I metaphorically kicked in Kevin Feige’s door.” Reed’s comments certainly put a lot of high expectations on the film considering how big the Avengers movies can get. While it obviously won’t have a lot of heroes, it sounds like Kang’s threat will make it worthy of being an Avengers-level film where the stakes are higher than ever before. You can also add the fact that the film is expected to set up Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, where Kang will have a much bigger presence and solidify himself as the big villain of the Multiverse Saga. Either way, it sounds like this will be more epic than we’ve seen before and it’s curious to see what they have in store.
