While many anime-only fans have been converted and have begun reading the manga, there are still some viewers that have yet to read the source material. So, they are now sharing some interesting theories about the door and why Denji shouldn’t open it.

Anime-Only Door Theories

Reddit’s r/csmanime is one of the biggest anime-only communities (despite also being filled with manga readers). There, many fans are now sharing what they think of the Chainsaw Man finale’s mysterious door. In a recent discussion thread, many fans believe that the door is something related to Pochita considering that it’s Pochita that asks Denji not to open it. Some of these theories include how opening the door will reveal something about Pochita’s dark past and why the Gun Devil is after him. Some also think that opening the door will unlock the Chainsaw Devil’s full power. Some also think that the door has something to do with Katana Man, with some pointing to how he still feels remorse for killing zombies while Denji does not. This might imply that there’s something fundamentally different with Pochita. There are lots of other interesting door theories on the subreddit that are fun to read for both Chainsaw Man anime-only fans and manga readers (provided that they don’t spoil what happens). Chainsaw Man: The Door Explained

Spoiler Warning: This part of the article contains heavy spoilers for the Chainsaw Man manga. If you’re an anime-only fan who can’t wait to know what the door is about or if you’re a manga reader looking for a refresher, here’s a quick explainer of what’s behind the door. Upon Makima’s insistence, Denji finally opened the door. It turns out that this door locks away a memory of Denji killing his abusive father. While readers have been led to believe that his father committed suicide, it was actually Denji that killed him because of his abuse. It was the yakuza that led Denji to believe his father committed suicide so they can pass on the debt to him. This crushing realization broke Denji, enough that Makima was finally able to fulfill her goal of breaking Pochita’s contract and controlling the Chainsaw Devil. The events described above happen late in the manga, so it’ll be a while before we see it animated. After all, MAPPA has yet to announce a Chainsaw Man Season 2.
