Speaking with Screen Rant, Andor producer Sanne Wohlenberg explains why viewers don’t have to know Star Wars to enjoy the show, and in fact, points to Andor for being a ‘great introduction’ to the Star Wars universe. Wohlenberg even compares watching the show as being similar to letting the audience have their own take on it by immersing themselves into the world first, rather than spoon-feeding them what Star Wars is all about. Check out his full quote below:

Andor tells the origin story of Cassian (played by Diego Luna), who was first introduced in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story where Cassian was willing to do whatever it takes to help the Rebellion, even so far as to kill those close to him. While in Andor, it explores further where Cassian embarks on the path that eventually leads him into becoming a rebel hero.

Wohlenberg continues to reiterate that, as far as anybody who did not grow up watching the Star Wars franchise, Andor is a good starting series.

Andor Season 1 is currently streaming on Disney+, with its second season in development.
