Here’s everything Disney unveiled during its D23 2022 event:

Disenchanted

Can you believe it’s been almost 15 years since Giselle (played by Amy Adams) blew us away by her singing in Enchanted? The original movie introduced us to a live-action real-world princess that lived amongst us for a short time. And now, Giselle is back to conquer more hearts. Only this time, she won’t be alone. Today’s D23 2022 event gave us the trailer of Disenchanted. The full cast was also revealed in the event with Adams returning to reprise her role. She will be joined by Maya Rudolph as the new villain in the movie. The movie will be available for streaming on Disney+ starting November 24th.

Hocus Pocus 2

Disney also released a new trailer for the much-awaited sequel to a classic Halloween flick, Hocus Pocus 2.

Hocus Pocus 2 is set to be released on Disney+ on September 30th. You can watch the official trailer of the movie here:

Peter Pan & Wendy

The event also revealed that Disney is working on a new Peter Pan movie called Peter Pan & Wendy. It was also revealed that Jude Law will be part of the movie as the villain, Captain Hook. The movie will make its debut on the streaming platform sometime in 2023.

Haunted Mansion

Disney also unveiled a new movie they are working on that was inspired by a classic theme park attraction. Haunted Mansion stars Jamie Lee Curtis as Madame Leota. The movie will be about a woman who enlists a crew of “spiritual experts” to get rid of supernatural beings in her home. The movie is set for a release next year.

Mufasa: The Lion King

We also learned that Disney is working on a prequel for The Lion King, which will be directed by Barry Jenkins. Not much information about Mustafa: The Lion King was revealed except that it will bring back Billy Eichner and Seth Rogan to reprise their roles as Timon and Pumbaa.

Snow White

Apparently, Disney is also working on a new Snow White movie that will star Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen. The two actresses were present at the event to make the announcement. In an interview with Deadline, Gadot revealed that this role is “very different” compared to the other roles she’s used to playing. But despite this, she is “so delighted” for this role as the iconic villain. The movie will be released in 2024.

The Little Mermaid

After waiting for some time, Disney released the official teaser trailer of The Little Mermaid live-action today. It was also revealed that the film will get a theatrical release on May 26, 2023. After 45 days, the film will be available for streaming on Disney+.

Elemental

Pixar also revealed more information on its upcoming movie, Elemental. The animation studio revealed that the movie will be about a boy made of water (called Wade) who falls in love with a girl made of fire (named Ember). The movie stars Leah Lewis as Ember and Mamoudou Athie as Wade. The movie will be released in theaters on June 16, 2023.

Win or Lose

Win or Lose has also been unveiled as the latest project of Disney Pixar. This is a new and original Pixar series that highlights the struggle of a softball team. Each weekly episode will focus on various characters in the show and highlight things that they feel.

Inside Out 2

Finally, we’re getting news about the much-awaited sequel to the 2015 animation, Inside Out. The movie brings back Amy Poehler to voice Joy, which will focus on the teenage years of Riley. The movie will still be directed by Kelsey Mann and is expected to get a summer 2024 release.

Elio

Another announcement Disney made at the D23 event is Elio, a Disney Pixar animation about a boy who gets mistaken as Earth’s intergalactic Ambassador and is transported across the galaxy. The movie stars Yonas Kibreab and America Ferrera, who voices the characters Elio and Olga Solis. It is directed by Adrian Molina and is expected to get a release in Spring 2024.

Iwájú

Disney is also working with a pan-African animation studio called Kugali. Together, they envision Iwàjú, a fictional version of Lagos, Nigeria. The movie is scheduled for a Disney+ release sometime in 2023.

Strange World

Strange World is another animation that Disney is working on. Like Elio, the theme of this animation is a dysfunctional family’s intergalactic adventure. But unlike the other animations, Strange World is headed towards Earth’s movie theaters on November 23, 2022.

Wish

Disney Animation Studio also unveiled Wish, an animation that somewhat reminds us of Neil Gaiman’s Stardust novel. Wish follows the journey of a girl named Asha who wished upon a star and finds herself a new friend. The movie will feature new songs by Julia Michaels. Another thing to look forward to in Wish is that Disney will be using a new animation style that combines CG animation with watercolor. The movie is set for a release in November 2023.

The event will last until Sunday, September 11th.
