Adidas Gearing For The Short-Term Negative Impact Of Cutting Ties With Kanye West

While speaking with Reuters, Adidas said that their decision to cut ties with West will have a short-term negative impact on the brand. More specifically, Adidas could lose an estimated $250 million in its net income this year. Prior to their decision, Adidas was scheduled to launch a new Yeezy collection later this year. And each pair was supposed to cost between $200 and $300. Other than Adidas, West was also dropped by Balenciaga following his anti-Semitic remarks. During a recent interview, West said that he didn’t think he would be canceled over the things that he said. “I ain’t losing no money. The day I was taken off the Balenciaga site, was one of the most freeing days. We here, baby, we ain’t going nowhere,” he said. West’s ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, also reacted to the rapper’s controversial statements. “Hate speech is never OK or excusable. I stand together with the Jewish community and call on the terrible violence and hateful rhetoric towards them to come to an immediate end,” she wrote on Twitter. Reese Witherspoon also slammed West for his comments. “Anti-semitism in any form is deplorable. In-person. Online. Doesn’t matter where. It’s hate and it’s unacceptable. Completely understand why my Jewish friends/ colleagues are frightened for their families. This is a very scary time,” she wrote (via Vanity Fair). Amy Schumer also reacted to West’s anti-Semitic remarks. “Do you know what the Jewish community is afraid this will lead to? 1 in 2 people doesn’t know the holocaust happened. Stand up. #neveragain,” she wrote. On Oct. 9, West published the controversial tweet. “I’m a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE,” he wrote. Johnny Depp’s lawyer, Camille Vasquez, urged West to retract his statement, but when he didn’t, she decided to end their professional relationship.
