Since bounties are not just about fighting prowess and also have a lot to do with infamy, how many people he killed if a person attacked a Government facility, valuable knowledge, amount of followers, and so on, there is always a sense of ambiguity on how strong a person with a high bounty really is, and that mystery makes him intriguing. Right now, Luffy’s current high bounty has more to do with his guts and leadership when he tried to go into a Yonko’s territory and then successfully escape from it; his physical strength, as high as it is, is secondary. That said, there are still pirates that far exceed Luffy in physical strength, but have lower bounties. Yet, none of them are devalued because they are lower, having a high bounty is enough for us to respect them as strong opponents. We immediately understand that they can give Luffy a hard time or even beat him up. Now that number feels so tame compared to the people in this list. Jack the Drought, who has a bounty of 1,000,000,000 Belly is not even in the top 10 anymore. Must be a sign that the ending of One Piece is just around the corner. SPOILERS AHEAD:
Katakuri is one of the three Sweet Generals of the Big Mom Pirates, and the strongest pirate in the crew, strongest only to his mother Big Mom. He is so strong, he is thought to be perfect by his brothers and sisters. He is stronger and faster than Luffy in every way, with a mochi power that is a dark mirror of Luffy’s rubber abilities, except better with more versatility. He remained undefeated until Luffy came along, Even then, it is because he injured himself to make it a fair fight, and his defeat has more to do with Katakuri not wanting to fight anymore, than Luffy overtaking him in fighting prowess. Even the Blackbeard Pirates as a group have a hard time facing Katakuri. There is even a discussion of the possibility that he is stronger than King. When it comes to engineering and virus creation, he is on top of the field, second only to Vegapunk. To make matters worst, if he is any thinner, he would steal all our hearts. May God help us all if he chooses not to be big anymore. With King’s defeat by the blades of Zoro, it is a statement; the Straw Hats can defeat any pirate crew in any sea at this point. After all, when it was first announced he has this high a bounty, he was no doubt the weakest character in the Billions club. Right now, Luffy can go toe-to-toe with Yonko Kaidou. To be fair, Kaidou is lifting an entire island into the air, while having already fought multiple opponents who can surprisingly hurt him, as he goes toe-to-toe with Luffy, so there is still a discussion to be had if Luffy is actually in Kaidou’s level. Either case, after Wano, Luffy’s bounty has nowhere else to go but up. He proved capable of manipulating both the Whitebeard Pirates and the full military force of the Marines. He might have the lowest bounty among the Yonkos outside of Luffy, but according to his past successes, he is just biding his time until eventually take the others’ crown. He is able to beat Marco the Phoenix despite Marco being just as strong as Admirals, and it is stated only Big Mom, Shanks, and Kaidou can take him down. He is the only person who has two Devil Fruit abilities, one that can destroy the world, and one that can make it disappear. As a credit of his strength, he was an old rival of Mihawk. He can battle Whitebeard to a standstill and will even split the sky while doing it. He can stop Kaido from confronting Whitebeard and can stop a giant war just by his presence. The Gorosei, the most powerful authority in the world, even respects him. How he got his arm eaten by a weak Sea King, no one will ever know. Her strength is equal to that of Kaidou, as she fought him for days to a standstill and came out of it without any visible wounds. She is the only main villain in an arc where the objective is not to beat her but to escape from her. When the Straw Hats were trying to escape her wrath, they might as well be running away from Godzilla. He is so strong, and so unkillable, that his favorite pass time is to commit suicide. With a Zoan fruit of being an ancient giant dragon that can pulverize mountains with a fire breath, clearly, he is the king of the beasts. On land, sea, and air, always bet on Kaido. In terms of physical strength, he seems to be Gol D. Roger’s equal and has the power to destroy the world with his earthquake-creating Devil Fruit. From the looks of it, he can find the One Piece anytime, he just does not have the motivation to do so, given that he does not have the same wanderlust as Roger after having a family. It is only that distinction that makes him second place in bounty. Time will tell if Luffy or any other pirate with a big D will ever catch up in the future. By the time One Piece ends, we might have a new roster of Yonkos, with Pirate King Monkey D. Luffy, Captain Kid, Trafalgar Law, and Buggy the Clown.
